ABSF at Mombasa A.S.K. show
 This year Mombasa ASK show theme was entitled “Driving Agri-Business in Attaining Food Sufficiency and Vision 2030". The Mombasa International Trade Fair commenced from the 12th to 16th august 2009. It was officially opened on the 13th august 2009 by President Mwai Kibaki, who is also the ASK patron, together with other ministers including the prime minister and the minister of agriculture. ABSF was hosted by KEPHIS in their Exhibition. ABSF attended the show with the following objectives
  • To raise awareness on biotechnology in coastal region
  • To expose farmers and other stakeholders to the benefit on  products of biotechnology
  • To assess the level of biotechnology awareness and knowledge in region and province
  • ABSF exhibited communication materials on biotechnology in form of brochures, Agricultural Biotechnology Network in Africa demonstrations and registration of farmers, policy makers, scientists and media personnel. This year, ABSF received overwhelming interest not just in the information on biotech but interest by consumers in tissue culture bananas and other biotech products.
