Congress Programme

Running for five days, the Congress Programme covers familiar agricultural biotechnology topics expected at such an event, plus more novel cutting-edge biotechnology topics. Social and ethical issues in biotechnology are discussed and the role played by agricultural biotechnology in the alleviation of global poverty is addressed.
In brief, the Congress will include:

  • More than 25 spoken platform sessions;
  • Over 120 international biotechnology expert platform speakers;
  • 150 expected poster presentations;
  • Three keynote presentations;
  • International biotech exhibitions

2. THE 2008 BIOTECHNOLOGY CONGRESS EXHIBITION

The biotech congress will host Exhibition stands and this will provide opportunities for a wide range of biotech marketing platforms at the congress venue.

The Exhibition runs from 11.00am on Monday 22 September 2008 until 11.00am on Friday September 2008, and covers the full range of service and product suppliers to the worldwide biotechnology industries. These include contract research manufacture and formulation, agrochemical active ingredients, finished products, bio-pesticides and bio-stimulants, and application equipment, product packaging, publications and information services/systems.
New biotech products - and particularly those with novel effects – will be one of the key features of the Exhibition. New companies continue to be attracted to biotechnology.

To book stands please contact Dr Felix M’mboyi, at fmmboyi@absfafrica.org to confirm stand availability. If the stand required is still available then you will be forwarded a Booking Form to complete and return.

Payment
Exhibitors will be invoiced twice: 50% on acceptance of stand application and the 50% balance due for payment by 31 July 2008. Payment is required in full for stands booked after 31 May 2008.

Congress Delegates Registration

Cut off date for online registrations are 31st May 2008 after which Delegates wishing to attend the Congress should register at the event.

To be able to attend this years' 1st All Africa Congress on Biotechnology you will need to register as a delegate. Register HERE

Registered Congress delegates are entitled to:

  • Attend any sessions of the Congress between 22 - 26 September
  • A set of Congress abstract proceedings (except discount rate students)
  • Access to the list of Congress delegates; available 6 weeks prior to the event
  • Access to the Biotech Exhibition
  • Refreshments during the morning and afternoon break times

Student Congress registrations

As part of the Congress charitable activities students are being given the chance to attend at a discounted fee. This registration HAS to be supported by an official letter from the head of the course to confirm your student status.

Students who have Offered a Paper/Poster and had it accepted will have been notified.



Visa applications

If you require a visa to be able to attend the Congress and would like an invitation letter to help with your application, you must register to attend the Event and there may be an administration fee for the letter which will need to be paid before it is issued.
